The effectiveness of life skills training on the quality of life among addicted women after drug rehabilitation

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of life skills training on the quality of life of addicted women after drug rehabilitation. Method:The present research is a quasi-experimental study by pre-test, post-test with the control group.statistical population of this study consisted of addicted women and girls after drug rehabilitation at a Women's addiction camp in Tehran. 30 out of 60 campers were selected through purposeful sampling method, based on entry and exit criteria, and then randomly assigned to two experimental groups (15 subjects) and control (15 subjects). The experimental group was trained in life skills. The World Health Organization's Quality of Life Scale (SF-26) was administered pre-test and post-test in both groups. Results: The results of covariance analysis showed that the scores of participants in the experimental group were significantly 0/05 higher than the control group in the  subscales of quality of life, including physical health, mental health, social relationships, environmental health, and overall quality of life score. Conclusion: It seems that life skills training, especially emotional management skills, stress management, problem solving, and effective communication can improve the quality of life and has been an effective step in the rehabilitation and prevention of relapse among addicts.
